Ute Röschenthaler is Extracurricular Professor of Anthropology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany. She is one of the Principal Investigators in the collaborative research project ‘Cultural Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation in Africa and Asia’ and leads a research project on African textile markets. Her research areas include economic anthropology, intellectual property, trade networks, and cultural mobility, with a regional focus on West and Central Africa and Africans in Asia. Her most recent book is A History of Mali’s National Drink: Following the Tea Ritual from China to West Africa (Brill, 2022).
