Monica DeHart

Monica DeHart is a Distinguished Professor of Anthropology, Latin American Studies, and Global Development Studies at the University of Puget Sound, Washington State. She has been studying the cultural politics of economic development in Central America for more than 25 years. Her most recent book, Transpacific Developments: The Politics of Multiple Chinas in Central America (Cornell University Press, 2021), builds on ethnographic research in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala to analyse the different forms and meanings China has taken in the region’s development politics.
