John M. Carroll teaches courses on the history of Hong Kong, British imperialism, museums, and tourism in the Department of History at the University of Hong Kong. Raised in Florida, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, he is the author of several books on Hong Kong history and the British presence in early modern China. He is currently writing a book on tourism in Hong Kong history. Carroll is Chair of the Society for Hong Kong Studies.
