Irna Hofman

Irna Hofman is a Research Associate at the University of Oxford. She is a rural development sociologist specialising in social and agrarian change in Central Asia. Irna has conducted extensive ethnographic fieldwork on the Chinese presence in rural Tajikistan. Her work has appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of Agrarian Change and The Journal of Peasant Studies, as well as in public-facing outlets. Her current research focuses on rural labour, everyday geopolitics, and the lived politics of Global China in Central Asia.
